MEND weight management

MEND provides programmes, services and resources to help children and families learn how to improve their health, fitness and the way they feel about their bodies. All of these elements help families manage their weight better and lead healthier lives, contributing to national and international efforts to prevent and treat overweight and obesity in children.

MEND currently offer three different programmes which families can join, the MEND Programme for overweight children aged 7-13 and the MEND Programme for 5-7s, which both involve parents or carers and the Mini-MEND Programme, an early years’ healthy lifestyle programme for 2-4 year olds and their families, whatever the child's weight.

Referrals of overweight and obese children between the ages of 7 and 13 are extremely welcome with the families' agreement. It should be noted that the Programme is not suitable for children with any serious medical, developmental, psychiatric or physical condition.

Referrals for the Mini-MEND Programme and MEND Programme 5-7s are also welcome with the parents' permission. The Programme is suitable for children of all weights between the ages of 2 and 4.
